Journal: Multimedia Tools and Application

Special Issue on Multimedia and Internet of Things Based Applications for Computer Vision and Biomedical Processing (MITCV)

Recent studies have found Multimedia based applications for computer vision and biomedical processing can be used to solve variety of real life problems. Computer vision and biomedical processing has rapidly transitioned from a research topic with few commercial applications to a mainstream technology with applications in virtually every sector of our economy. The integration of computer vision and biomedical processing technologies has become a topic of increasing interest for both researchers and developers from academic fields and industries worldwide. It is foreseeable that multimedia generation applications will be the main approach of the next generation. The explosive number of future generation algorithms and increasing computational power of computers has significantly extended the number of potential future generation applications for computer vision and biomedical processing.

Computer vision mainly involves the study of extracting information from images captured using robot vision, smart video surveillance, multi-media image search, camera-based human computer interfaces. Biomedical processing involves the analysis of heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation levels, blood glucose, nerve conduction and brain activity to provide useful information upon which clinicians can make decisions. It further emphasis on practical, applications-led research on the use of methods and devices in clinical diagnosis, patient monitoring and management. This special issue intends to bring together researchers and developers from academic fields and industries worldwide working in the broad areas of computer vision and biomedical signal processing and promote community-wide discussion of ideas that will influence and foster continued research in the field for the betterment of human mankind.

This special issue intends to bring together for theoreticians and practitioners from academic fields and industries worldwide working in the broad range of topics relevant to machine learning techniques in the field of Computer vision, biomedical data analysis, Internet of things. Application areas can cover but are not limited to Human-Computer Interaction, Image processing, Big Data Media, Biomedical analysis and Computer Vision.
