Dear Colleagues,
Since CO2 laser technology was introduced, it has become a very popular procedure, especially with fractional laser systems, in many skin disorders (e.g., acne scars, photorejuvenation, etc.). The experience gained over 30 years of work and study with CO2 laser allows us to evaluate all the good technical developments and advantages of the combination of different operating modes. Particularly, different pulse shapes permit practitioners to be aggressive or non-aggressive, improving and enlarging the applications and the degree of the results, reducing the risk of side effects and speeding up the recovery time. Given the extreme “operate flexibility” of our fractional CO2 laser and even the use of the new freehand surgical handpieces with the use of “micro-scanners” for surgical applications, we can obtain better and more consistent results, while attending to the social needs and compliance of the patient. It is important to gain knowledge about the correct use of these new devices. This Special Issue, "The art and science of CO2 Laser: New characteristics, novel approaches and ideal combinations", aims to provide a collection of contributions on different treatment parameters, biological responses, clinical efficacy, and recovery time in skin disorders, focusing on combinations of treatments such as 10600 nm with 1540 nm wavelengths. Please contact Sophie Wang ([email protected]) if you have any questions. Prof. Dr. Paolo Bonan Dr. Alice Verdelli Guest Editors |
