About

The aim of the 18th edition of the International Conference on Service Oriented Computing (ICSOC 2020) is to provide an International forum for researchers, professionals, and industrial practitioners to report and share groundbreaking work in the vibrant discipline of Service-Oriented Computing (SOC). ICSOC aims at fostering cross-community scientific excellence by gathering experts from various disciplines, such as business-process management, distributed systems, computer networks, wireless and mobile computing, cloud/edge/fog computing, cyber-physical systems, networking, scientific workflows, services science, data science, management science, software engineering, to mention just a few.

This edition of ICSOC will promote the theme of Service Oriented Computing in the Era of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, two highly important areas for the world economy, in general, and the knowledge economy, in particular. The conference would be featuring research and industry presentations, a vision track, forward-looking keynote presentations, workshops, demonstrations, tutorials, special sessions, and a Ph.D. track.

Call for Papers

The goal of the ICSOC Demo track is to provide opportunities for participants from both academia and industry to present their latest development in Service Oriented Computing. The following proposals are particularly welcome:

  • Novel Service Applications and Implementations (interactive systems), including:
    • Data Science: Services for Organizing, Curating, Annotating, Linking, Analyzing, Mining and Visualizing Data/BigData
    • Artificial Intelligence: AI-enabled Services and Process Automation
    • Crowdsourcing Services
    • Internet of Things (IoT) Services
    • Edge Services
  • Service-oriented Architecture Showcases
  • Testbeds for Service Technologies and Concepts
  • Design-support tools (platforms, Open APIs)
  • Integration platform for SOA, SaaS, and APIs
  • Best practices for microservices and API Engineering

Important dates

Demonstration submission: September 15, 2020
Notifications of Acceptance: September 30, 2020
Authors registration deadline: October 12, 2020

Demonstrations Submission

Submissions accepted for the Demo track will be advertised on the ICSOC 2020 website and would be included in the post-conference proceedings. Each Demo submission must consist of the following elements:

  • Paper (maximum 5 pages): Pages 1-4 to describe the system to be demonstrated and the bibliographic references. The authors are encouraged to discuss the application domain, the problem scenario, the technology used, the techniques involved, the innovations of the system, interactive aspects, etc. Page 5 provides the organizers with a list of requirements for the demo setting at the conference. Papers must be prepared using the ICSOC format and submitted as PDF files. Submissions not conforming to the guidelines above will be rejected.
  • Video (maximum 5 minutes): The paper should contain a URL linking to a demonstration video of no more than 5 minutes in duration (QuickTime or YouTube format) showing and explaining the execution of the system. The video should be understandable without sound as much as possible, as they can be played during the conference.

Papers should be formatted according to the Springer’s LNCS Formatting Guidelines. Submissions must be in English. All papers must be submitted electronically in PDF to the Demo Submission System. All accepted papers will be included in the Conference Proceedings published by Springer Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS) series. Videos of accepted demo papers will be played (with no sound) during the breaks and demo sessions to increase visibility. For each accepted paper, at least one author must attend the conference and present the paper. The deadline for identifying and registering this individual author will be at the time when the camera-ready version is submitted.
