Call for Chapters Proposals Submission Deadline: May 25, 2019 Full Chapters Due: August 23, 2019 Submission Date: January 2, 2020 Introduction The role and function of youth workers are evolving, and youth workers need to adjust to the changes in youth work practice in a digital society. The integration of digital technologies into practice presents opportunities and challenges for the field of youth work. Currently, the digitalisation of society is changing our behaviour, our organisations and the assisting professions, among them youth work. Digitalisation procedures transform interactions with users, in addition to their needs. These also transform the organisations were youth workers involve in professional practice. Adapting to this digital technological tools for their practice is a crucial challenge for the youth work profession. For this reason, this handbook offers a complete guide to the theory and practice of youth development work in the digital age. It would present why the conventional intervention models and principles of youth work should enter the digital age. This handbook also places greater emphasis on the youth workers’ response to the adoption of digital technologies. Objective This handbook intends to examine on one hand why the youth work field is slow in adopting digital technologies, therefore to comprehend the challenges and issues. On the other hand, it is imperative to analyze how to overcome any challenges and issues facing youth development work in the digital age, and to what extent modern digital technologies can contribute to empowering youth work practice. It, further, aims at providing a model or theoretical frameworks, the principles, fundamentals, and best practices of digital youth work, and the latest empirical research findings in this area. Target Audience The target audience of this handbook will be composed of professionals, academicians, researchers, and practitioners working in the field of youth work. Furthermore, this handbook will provide insights and support executives concerned with this new digital environment. It also helps students undertaking studies preparing them for youth work practice gain insights concerning young people in a digital society through introducing them to a range of theoretical perspectives that guide the practice of youth work. Submission Procedure Researchers and practitioners are invited to submit on or before May 25, 2019, a chapter proposal of 1,000 to 2,000 words clearly explaining the mission and concerns of his or her proposed chapter. Authors will be notified by June 15, 2019 about the status of their proposals and sent chapter guidelines. Full chapters are expected to be submitted by August 23, 2019, and all interested authors must consult the guidelines for manuscript submissions at http://www.igi-global.com/publish/contributor-resources/before-you-write/ prior to submission. All submitted chapters will be reviewed on a double-blind review basis. Contributors may also be requested to serve as reviewers for this project.
