Machine learning and data-driven approaches have been playing a major role to enabling the future of multimedia broadcasting technologies with growing demands of new services, application with immersive and better quality of experience. Recent emerging artificial intelligent and machine learning technologies greatly encourage the creation of a more powerful image and video coding engine. Therefore, studying and deploying advanced artificial intelligent and machine learning tools for multimedia broadcasting in general and image/video compression are much important research topics for experts from not only academia but also industry.
